So, What Happens Next?

Over the course of the past few weeks, the Swans have been linked with a host of players and the statement “any move seems to be dependent on Everton completing a deal for Gylfi Sigurdsson” but which ones now will we see come true?

The biggest challenge we are likely to have to overcome will be the inevitable “Swansea tax’ that clubs will now apply knowing that we have the biggest transfer kitty in the club’s history burning a hole in our pocket.

Players that will have probably been available a few weeks back will all of a sudden have a ร‚ยฃ5m price increase slapped on their heads as is being suggested when people are taking in excess of ร‚ยฃ20m for players such as Nacer Chadli and Joe Allen.

We have a little over two weeks until the transfer window closes which is one of our biggest challenges going forward as not only will it be the effect of having the money but clubs will sense that we do not have much time to do the business that we need to do.

You would hope at the moment that various people have been sounded out about moves to the club and that we have not sat around he proverbial table today for the first time and wondered what we should be doing.

I suspect that the paper talk around Allen and Bony will have more than a level of truth in it as it will tie in with our normal strategy of looking at former players first and foremost but beyond that I am not sure what we will do.

I would love to see us move for someone like Viera who we have been linked with but I cannot see that happening and I would also like us to pluck a complete gem out of the blue a la Michu but I think our ability to find a player of that calibre has long since passed us by.

What I do know though is that things will be interesting over the next two weeks as we look to the board to deliver the players that we need. And quickly please.
