Abraham Sets His Sights High

I am sure that many Swansea fans would be happy to see that road start today with a first Premier League goal for the club following his loan switch in the summer, a move that he says was sealed by the way that Paul Clement handled the potential move.

“He came to my house and got to know my family,” said Abraham. “We made a decision from there that he is someone I would love to work with and he had good ambitions for me. That’s always nice and that’s when I decided.

“You get to know the coach and what he wants and what his plans are for the season and for you. It gives me confidence.

“It was a big decision and we sat down as a family and put all the facts down and decided Swansea was the place to be. I spoke to staff at Chelsea as well and they said Paul is a fantastic guy and is really going to improve you.”

He is certainly not a young lad who is devoid of confidence though as he reveals one of his ambitions is to be the very best that there is “I would love to win some major trophies and I would love to win the Ballon d’Or, that would be a perfect career,” he told Sky Sports. “It’s something to push for and work hard for. I have always been ambitious.

“I have to dream big this year. Last year I would have never dreamed of getting near 30 goals and I got 26 which was a massive thing for me. My dad said this year you have to aim for what you got last year, even beat it…I love it, it drives me and it’s something to work hard for.”

After a hugely impressive spell at Bristol City last season, Abraham opted to head to South Wales this time around after signing a new extended deal at Chelsea in the summer. And after drawing a blank last week in the 0-0 draw with Southampton he would love to open his credit at the Liberty today against former manager Jose Mourinho, one of his former managers.

When Jose Mourinho was Chelsea manager the first time around, I was a young boy,รขโ‚ฌย Abraham said in today’s matchday programme.

รขโ‚ฌล“I took pictures of him when I saw him at the training ground.

รขโ‚ฌล“During his second spell in charge, I trained with the first team quite a few times.

รขโ‚ฌล“He gave me some wise words.

รขโ‚ฌล“He said stay focused, keep scoring goals and being hungry and you will get your chance.

รขโ‚ฌล“Luckily I got it towards the end of that season.รขโ‚ฌย
