Ironically the Swans were linked with Wood earlier in the transfer window but it was a link that never seemed to actually go anywhere with Burnley following up their interest and Sky Sports now reporting that a deal there is closing in on completion.
Leeds are also being linked with a move for Jordan Rhodes as a replacement for Wood.
McBurnie has become a reasonably frequent substitute for the Swans over the past six months under Paul Clement but looks like a player who desperately needs regular game time for his game to develop as we hope that it will.
Ten minute cameos here and there in the Premier League will not be what is needed and there is much sense in thinking of loaning him out to a Championship club to test his ability at the next level down.
McBurnie began his career at Leeds Unitedรขโฌโขs West Yorkshire rivals, Bradford City and made 15 appearances during his time with the Bantams. After spending some time on loan at Chester where the young striker made 14 appearances and scored five goals, he went on to sign for us in 2015 for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.
He has spent time on loan at Newport County and Bristol Rovers.
