We never seem to learn from strikers. You can read Wilfried Bony and Fernando Llorente as two recent goal scorers of a high standard as players who need runs in the team and time to settle into clubs before they start to find the net.
Incredibly though we have already seen people write off one of Chelsea’s brightest prospects after he failed to find the net in either the 0-0 draw with Southampton or the 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.
Abraham was on target 26 times for Bristol City last season and certainly knows where the back of the net is and it has been reasonably obvious that he does add a new dimension to the team even from the short amount of time we have watched him play.
And Clement has no doubt that the goals will come from the striker as he explained “I think both Tammy and Jordan (Ayew) needed to do better when the ball was played forward to them (against Manchester United),
‘This was Tammy’s second game at this level, aside from two substitute appearances at Chelsea. He is now starting Premier League games.
“It is going to be a brilliant learning experience for him, but at the same time he is not here on work experience.
“He is here to deliver. He knows that and I am sure it is a matter of time before he is scoring goals.”
