Awful Swans Move Closer To Championship

There can be no excuses from the Swans or their manager this afternoon as the performance would have been one of the worst witnessed in our seven years in this division with a side that was unable to pass to a player in a white shirt. Or even for large periods unable to pass even in the general area where those players in white shirts were.

To watch professional players earning millions of pounds a year failing to get a corner off the ground or to pass the ball successfully less than five yards makes you wonder how long it is until more and more empty seats appear at the Liberty. And with season tickets likely to go on sale next month for next season it is hard to envisage any level of rush to renew to watch this even from those who may believe that Premier League football could somehow be retained.

Even a cursory glance at the team sheet prior to the game would point you in the direction of where things have gone wrong at the Liberty and you certainly cannot imagine too many teams sending scouts to look at our players ahead of the next transfer window.

Brighton will undoubtedly not have an easier afternoon this season, or any season for that matter, and I would imagine not even have believed it was possible to come up against a side that did so many of the basics wrong.

And what did we have to do to try and change the way the game was going. We introduced Wayne Routledge, Luciano Narsingh and Olly McBurnie – is there a Premier League team that could introduce a more ineffective trio than this to try and change a game that needed a desperate injection?

As the boos, jeers and chants rung out around the Liberty – and not many of them in support of the team or the regime – it was difficult to argue with anything as it really was a load of rubbish and nothing else could be deemed to be factually incorrect.

We are now heading into the latest international break of the season having dropped into the relegation zone and on form like today there is no chance of us coming out of it at any stage soon, let alone any point this season.

We have two weeks until we travel to Burnley in our next Premier League game, whether Paul Clement will still be in charge at that point remains to be seen but you have to say it is doubtful.

And few could argue with it if it did happen.
