Planet Swans ArchivesWhen you have credible journalists tweeting that players are almost begging to come to the club and we still fail to get deals over the line then you have a club that is devoid of ambition (and some would say hope) thanks to some very poor decisions made with a personal greed rather than the best interests of a football club.
From a club that was lauded by so many for so many years, one bad decision in a sale has taken us backwards at a rate of knots that would almost have seemed impossible even if it was laid out in front of us at the time of the sale back in 2016.
Our previous shareholders told us that they had taken the club as far as they could go and they needed new investment to take the club to the next level. They were probably right. Unfortunately, what they did was sell to the first offer that came to hand without checking to see what that investment looked like. And had they looked they would have seen an empty wallet and zero intentions of investing into the playing side without simply selling first.
What has followed has been the last twelve months of sheer incompetence and mis-management that has seen every saleable asset sold, a Premier League place given up without a fight and this transfer window where almost anything that had a value was allowed to leave, some of them incredibly on loan (We have over £40m worth of recent purchases now on loan outside of the club)
And many would have probably accepted that had we been seen to at least spend a reasonable amount of the incomings back into the squad. I think most would have accepted that we have to ensure the club is secure but ultimately when you make sacrifices at the expense of the playing squad then the club is anything but secure.
We still have big people at the top of the club collecting large salaries whilst the playing side of things – you know, the most essential part of a football club – is allowed to become weaker with every passing transfer window.
We hear nothing from those in charge. A big change was promised this summer, nobody said it was a big change for the worse. They were falling over themselves back in March to take the credit for a managerial appointment that it looked may rescue their arses from the mire but since then it is nothing. Well, other than the occasional cheesecake picture or an inflammatory tweet or two to stir up the anger just a little bit more.
Swansea City has become a disaster. Last week’s optimism with a win over Sheffield United was quickly doused with the departures this week of Ayew, Fernandez and Amat to name just some of those who left this summer and it leaves Graham Potter with a squad stripped to the bone.
There is the chance of a loan window but when Brentford are prepared to use that to loan you your Number 1 target ahead of a permanent January transfer move and we still refuse then you know that your goose has been more than cooked.
There are some serious answers to be given this morning from those who made these decisions but the silence will be deafening. In the corridors of the Liberty, as has become tradition, they will point fingers at each other with nobody shouldering the blame. That has been the case since 2016 when some local business people got rich on the back of our success.
Levien and Kaplan and the other 27 are nowhere to be seen (although a couple of them are also prone to stirring things up on Twitter as well) and you just know that the chances of them being at the game this weekend are probably as likely as a new signing on deadline day.
It has become a case of just when you think things cant get worse they do and that is unacceptable and it is time – while we are having a clear out – to completely rid the club of those who started putting us in this mess – you know who you are, the ones with the big wallets – and it is time that our owners confirmed their motives are to use Swansea City as a real life game of Football Manager. The problem here gentlemen (and ladies) is that you cannot press the new game option when you have messed it up real bad. Which you have.
For those asking about possible Ryan Woods loan to Swansea with view to a permanent, it was a potential option. Sense was Brentford could be persuaded. Swansea, however, said they couldn’t even afford that… & that should manage your expectations when it comes to other loans

Swansea City has taken so many steps back I have lost count of them and this transfer window will be the last straw for so many. I genuinely feel for Graham Potter as I suspect he was given a false impression of what he is walking into. Last Saturday showed what he was campable of now he has to do it all again with less options in front of him. Dealt a bum hand by the worst dealers I have seen for a while.
As fans we will of course remain Swansea till I die but there is nothing pleasant about what we have become.
Forget your #gritandbeauty and your #notjustanotherfootballclub they were marketing dreams that I am sure someone believed in but didn’t actually understand that a hashtag is not just for Christmas.
#fireandsale may be more appropriate at this point in time but we are just another football club in every department. One that became as mercenary in the boardroom as Premier League clubs tend to be in the dressing rooms.
We wanted the Swansea way. The Swansea way now appears to be something completely different to what we all thought. But cheap, sell high and buy shit was the Premier League Swansea way, now it is sell low, buy nothing.
Sad times.
