A Familiar Face

Rangel ended a long – and happy – association with the club at the end of last season having played a big part in our rise from League One to the Premier League and Europe. However, he was snapped up by QPR earlier in this campaign and having revealed this week that the club snubbed him as he looked to extend his stay at the club

That claim is disappointing and a shambolic way to treat a club legend if that is true but aside from welcoming him back with a warm reception tomorrow we have to ensure that for now the focus for the 90 minutes is to be behind the players that are here now not the players who have been here before.

After three games without a win – or a goal – we need to go on the hunt for the three points that will keep us in touching distance of the leading pack within the division and after three consecutive blanks at home we need to also rediscover where the back of the net is.

Fer and Celina’s potential return is of course good news for us as we look more dangerous with both players in the side and it gives us some movement and urgency that can provide Ollie McBurnie with the chances that he always craves.

QPR have not won in Swansea since 1981 which makes for a nice stat and many of us will remember the last two meetings between the club as we tore them apart twice under Michael Laudrup in their season in which they were relegated from the Premier League.

Rangel is likely to feature for the visitors having recovered from injury but they are missing Jordan Cousins who was sent off for them in midweek.

For the stat merchants, QPR have won just once in their last nine away matches and Swansea are the only side in the Championship this season yet to score a goal from a set piece. Not overly surprising seeing as we have only found the back of the net seven times in the league.
