Potter Continues His Magic Touch

Goals from Courtney Baker-Richardson, Conor Roberts and Jay Fulton only told part of a story on an afternoon when the passing was quick, incisive and accurate and QPR really had no answer to the Swans who were in dominant mood.

After three games without a goal it was key that we rediscovered the goalscoring touch and it was probably more pleasing that we managed to do it without McBurnie finding the back of the net although he had a superb performance doing pretty much everything but.

He set up Baker-Richardson for the first and Fulton for the third to cap a superb move of multiple passes and a long period of Swans possession. That third goal for me summed up our afternoon at the Liberty with QPR much too often for their liking chasing our shadows.

It is always interesting to see a Potter line up and trying to guess a formation fro. the players picked and all too often you can get that choice wrong and for the opposition that turns more into a nightmare as the players switch position during the game on multiple occasions as well.

The first came from a good Swans move with Kyle Naughton finding McBurnie who nodded it down for Baker-Richardson to open the scoring. And he really should have had more in the first half as he blasted over a couple of minutes later as well as shooting at the keeper after being found by Tom Carroll.

Roberts and Celina were starting to take more control on the flanks and Byers and Carroll were more and more in control in the centre of midfield with the 90 minutes passing without a real save of note being made by Erwin Mulder in the Swans goal.

The centre back pairing of Mike Van Der Hoorn and Joe Rodon is looking better and better by the game as we completed a fifth clean sheet in ten games to move up to 7th in the table.

Connor Roberts goal was well taken after some good work from Carroll and Fulton – actually make that excellent work from Carroll and Fulton but it was the third goal that summed up the day for me.

A long period of possession seemed to be going nowhere until a step up in pace saw Roberts find McBurnie who found Fulton who lifted his shot into the net to complete the scoring.

There probably weren’t many who fancied us to get 16 points from the opening 10 games but Potter is working wonder with this squad and getting the very best out of the players available to him. And with Celina and Fer both returning today that availability has improved no end and that has to give us confidence for the midweek trip to Wigan and visit of Ipswich next Saturday. Four points from those games and the second International break will be very enjoyable for us indeed.

Well done Swans. Brilliant stuff.
