Looking To Continue WInning Ways

Saturday was a refreshing way to watch football particularly around the 35 pass move that led to the third goal but the truth was that goal just summed up a performance where we completed 651 of the 746 passes that we attempted around our 64% possession.

It was that kind of style that bought the Swans so many plaudits during our rise to the Premier League and it is a style that Graham Potter is bringing back to the club but he is doing it with a mixture of youth products and some more experienced heads and one of the division’s youngest squads.

Three goals on Saturday could easily have been double that and with confidence and team spirit at an obvious high then we head into the North West with every chance of the win that will lift us further up the table.

Of course, it won’t be easy as Wigan are only separated from us on goal difference and have taken 13 from 15 points available to them at home with only Nottingham Forest managing to leave the DW with any points.

Key striker Will Grigg could be fit enough to start the game whilst the wise money suggests that Potter will bring back both Leroy Fer and Martin Olsson for what promises to be one of our toughest tests this season to date.

Potter himself is calling on his side to focus again and is certainly not underestimating the quality of the opposition “Wigan have done very well so far this season. They have created chances and scored goals and they have some very good players so it will be a tough game.

“They have been really positive in the way they have played. Promoted teams are used to winning and you can see that with Wigan. It’s a bit like Sheffield United last year – they have stuck to the ideas that brought them success last season.”
