Brewster – We Have Set The Bar High

Rhian Brewster scored twice on Saturday as the Swans returned to Championship action with a comprehensive victory at the Riverside Stadium and in the process the man on loan from the Premier League champions elect took his tally to six in twelve appearances for us.

When your striker is on the kind of form that Brewster hit on Saturday then you become very difficult to beat and Brewster knows that the Swans have set the bar high as the season finally reaches the business end.

Normally by now players are enjoying the last week or so of a summer break but with events of the last three months having forced a re-think in the way the season is approached the Swans still have a chance of a day at Wembley at the beginning of August.

A 3-0 win away from home is a great result,โ€ beamed Brewster. โ€œIf youโ€™d have said weโ€™d be 3-0 up before half-time then I may not have believed you.

We made a great start to the game and in the second half we grinded it out. – Rhian Brewster

Brewster was speaking to the club’s official website ahead of the weekend visit of Luton Town who are battling to stay in the Championship themselves albeit at the other end to which the Swans are looking to exit the division.

Despite an impressive goals to game ratio, Brewster has scored just once at the Liberty so far in his five appearances to date, a record no doubt he will be looking to improve on this weekend knowing a win could lift the Swans into the play off spaces come the end of Saturday’s football.

โ€œWe have eight games to play, so thereโ€™s lots on the line. Teams will drop points and letโ€™s hope we keep winning.

โ€œWe have set the bar, now we canโ€™t fall below that.โ€

  1. Over the years in all the leagues and in cup games we have played, it seems to me we have struggled in winning games against teams at the bottom who are playing for their future.
We need to approach those games with a different attitude.

For several seasons at the very least we have regularly failed to break teams down when they park the bus. And this brings us back to the topic of a Plan B; Cooper hasn’t got one, Clement didn’t either.
