Manchester United midfielder James Garner could be the next in line for a Swansea City loan move according to the Manchester Evening News as the Swans and the former Premier League Champions are reported to be discussing transfer dealings for the second summer running.
Last summer it was the move of Dan James to Old Trafford which made plenty of headlines and this time around it is Garner being linked with a move to South Wales whilst a move for Joe Rodon from United has also not been ruled out as a result of the rumours.
Garner scored 9 goals from midfield last season and has been around the fringes of the first team at Old Trafford but it is now believed that Ole Gunnar Solskkjaer is prepared to let the player leave for a season to get vital first team experience and the Swans are supposedly one of a few Championship clubs that would be interested in making that move happen.
Meanwhile, a move for Rodon was widely expected from Premier League sides this season and the same newspaper reported back in May that United could be prepared to move at up to ยฃ20m for one of Swansea’s biggest talents.ย ย Although they now suggest that a centre back is not the immediate priority Solskjaer is known to want to bring top young talent to the club and that is a description that certainly fits Rodon.
Some want to go out on loan, some are ready to go out on loan and some aren’t quite ready to go on loanย
It’s getting that individual basis to recognise and see what clubs are interested. And will it help them or will it not?
I think chances might come up in the near future for some to go out on loan. If not, then they’ll stay here and we’ll look to develop them as best we can. – Manchester United Under 23 boss Neil Wood.
Manchester United have been linked with moves for both Jack Grealish and James Maddison this summer which would suggest they see their plans as building their midfield from new additions rather than promotions through the ranks for a loan move for Garner seems likely.ย ย And of course with the player having worked with Steve Cooper during our manager’s time with England Under-17s he could just be the next of that crop of youngsters to find himself in South Wales?
