Swansea 2 Blackburn 0 – Manager Post Match Comments

It will come as no surprise to find out that Steve Cooper was the happiest of the two managers when the dust settled on yesterday’s 2-0 win for the Swans at the Liberty over Tony Mowbray and his visiting Blackburn team.

Cooper watched the end of a perfect week that saw his side record two successive 2-0 wins at home to move into second place in the table with just a week now until the next international break.

That week will see tough looking away trips to both Brentford and Norwich that will be a test of the Swans promotion credentials but trips that we can approach with great confidence after the last seven days.

It was a tough game. The first half was not the prettiest and we took a while to settle, but second half we were better

The game was played more in Blackburn’s half, which was the message at half-time, to press the ball a bit more and run a bit more than we had in the first half.

We wanted to take more care with the ball and we did that for the second goal.

We know not every game can be the purest and we have to accept that, even though that is what we aim for. – Steve Cooper

We definitely had the chances to score a goal or two but it didn’t happen for us today

I don’t think we’ve lost a goal like their first goal for about two years, a straightforward header from a corner and then another header in the second half.

It’s very frustrating for us. It was a tight game against a team who could match our spirit.

I felt their spirit towards the end of the game was really strong, really high and we couldn’t wrestle everything away from them.

Great credit has to go to them, but it felt so unlike us to concede those goals like we did, the two crosses coming into the box and the two headers going in.

We haven’t been conceding like that for a long time – Rovers boss Tony Mowbray
