Whilst the role of the likes of Andre Ayew, Jamal Lowe and Conor Hourihane are designed to get goals for the team, the Swans have found a regular unlikely scorer this season in Connor Roberts who netted again on Wednesday night at Stoke to take his tally for the season to 4.
The wing back play of Roberts has rightly earned him plenty of plaudits this season and whilst the goal tally tells one story you add in his assists and general worth to the team and you have a clear contender for the player of the year awards when the votes are cast in just a few weeks time.
It is widely believed that Roberts could be heading for the Premier League next season although clearly we all hope that his appearances there will be for the Swans, a side he has progressed through the ranks of supporting and the academy to become such a first team star.
But Roberts is not planning to stop at four and would like to get his name on the scoresheet more this season as the Swans head into the business end of the season as one of the promotion favourites.
โFour is tidy but hopefully there are more to come. The only way thatโs going to happen is by continuing to get in the box and getting shots off and getting onto the end of crosses. Hopefully, I can carry that on until the end of the season and get a couple more,” said Roberts.
โHopefully we can kick on from this now, the games are coming thick and fast and getting more important each week.
Hopefully we can put in another decent performance against Middlesbrough and get another important win.โ
