When you get to the end of a 46 game season then you know that every point you have earned can prove to be crucial and it may well prove that a point from a poor performance at Blackburn on a Tuesday night in March may well prove to be absolutely crucial to our promotion hopes.
The Swans wake up this morning level on points with second place Watford separated only by the Hornets having a better goal difference but the Swans, maybe crucially, having a game in hand over the side that we are destined to meet on the last weekend of the season.
That game may prove to be a straight promotion shoot out between two sides but it could also be that we look back on last night’s game with the knowledge that the point we earned in Lancashire was the one that made all the difference.
It is good that everyone seems to be accepting within the squad that we were not at our best last night but it would be disingenuous to even try and say otherwise.ย ย If truth were spoken then we haven’t been at our best for several games now but we continue to pick up points and we continue to have promotion in our own hands with 12 games to go.ย You do almost start to wonder what could happen if we hit any level of form in the coming dozen games.
That aside though midfielder Jay Fulton, who was fouled for last night’s penalty, was looking for the positives of a point gained for the Swans in the game when he spoke after the game.
โIt was an even game and not the best of matches,โ declared Fulton.
โItโs a hard place to go. The schedule is tough at the moment too, so we look at it as another point on the board. It could turn into a good point come the end of the season.
โThere is no getting around it. We have three away games within the space of a week, but thatโs the way it is. We will stick together and try to get three more points.
โThey are a good side, so we take the positives from it and move onto Saturday against Luton.โ
