Kris O’Leary believes that his Under-23 side can improve on their midweek performance that earned them a draw against Ipswich but only if they sharpen up on their passing and work with the ‘Swansea Way’
O’leary took charge of the team for the first time in midweek and watched them probably deserve a win over their Ipswich counterparts but be punished for poor finishing and some good goalkeeping.
The next challenge for the team is a clash next week away at Watford and O’Leary is clear in what they need to do to get a result in Hertfordshire as he explained to the official Swans website.
โAt times against Ipswich, we just lost control of the game in the second half. We allowed them to step in and we were sloppy with our first and second passes after regaining possession,” said O’Leary.
โThe first two or three passes must be crisp; you then move the opposition about and unsettle them.
โAnd once the opposition retreats, you have control of the game.
โItโs a fine balancing act. We want to keep our attacking intent but, at the same time, we want control.
โThatโs what Swansea has always been about.โ
