Marc Guehi has been named in the England Under-21 squad for their upcoming Euro group games against Switzerland, Portugal and Croatia.
The Swans defender has been named and is likely to join up with the squad after the weekend clash with Cardiff despite Steve Cooper admitting that still have injury concerns over him and were uncertain as to when he may regain fitness.
The Under-21 competition this year is taking a different format with these three games taking the group stage of the 16 team tournament with the top two in each of the four groups heading into the knockout stage of the tournament that will take place between 31 May and 6 June in the host countries of Hungary and Slovenia.
Guehi will be joined in the squad by two of our former loan players in Conor Gallagher and Rhian Brewster with manager Aidy Boothroyd saying on the announcement “I’m excited by this group – not just in their ability but also their togetherness and team spirit – and I know they will do everything they can to make the country proud.”
