Tomorrow evening will see Cardiff City arrive at the Liberty for the big South Wales derby and visiting midfielder Will Vaulks admits that it will be an emotional game as Cardiff set out to try and ensure that they will not be on the wrong end of a historic moment.ย At least from their side anyway.
The Swans 2-0 win at the Cardiff City Stadium earlier this season has set up that chance of history with a home win ensuring that a side has completed the league double for the first time – at what will be the 30th attempt.
The league table suggests that the Swans will start the favourites and the bookies do agree with the odds tipped just slightly in the Swans favour.ย ย Vaulks though will be hoping he can play his part in avoiding that moment of history as he explained via the Cardiff official website on the eve of the game.
“Derby games make everyone emotional, which is completely fair. Football fans are completely entitled to be emotional. That’s why we enjoy the game so much because it gets you so high and so low.
“I don’t think we did do enough in the last game. The first goal we were disappointed with defensively to concede that goal. We kind of huffed and puffed, never really got into it. It does happen. It isn’t through a lack of trying. We want to win that game just as much as anyone.
“The last game, we were poor. And we’ll be looking to try and rectify that tomorrow and try and impose ourselves on the game more than we did.
“To beat Swansea and to not concede that record – but we’ll be just as happy to be three points higher than what we are at the moment.
“We’re really disappointed with the startย because we basically gave ourselves a mountain to climb, but you never know, we might be able to climb it.”
