The words of Cardiff City captain Sean Morrison were clear when he spoke to Sky Sports after helping his side to a 1-0 win at the Liberty and ensure that they avoided becoming the first side to be on the end of a league double taking that statistic into at least one more season.
Morrison was the Sky man of the match for his defensive performance and he was often throwing his body in the way of a Swansea shot which would have increased our shots on target as a bare minimum had he not been there.
He also admitted that he played the end of the game under pain killers for a calf injury that happened during the game but he was determined not to be taken off and says “I just got on with it”
I popped a few painkillers and got on with it.ย We dug in today. This is what Cardiff City is all about.
“We owe the fans this one. The last three derby games, we’ve been way off it. We know how much this means to the fans. So that was for all the fans that couldn’t be here today. All of them at home watching on tele. That was for them.
“Were we the better team today with the ball? Probably not. But what we’ve shown is fight, character and determination and we’ve come out with a 1-0 win and we’re extremely happy with it.”
