Ayew says “I am fine” ahead of Birmingham clash

Andre Ayew reduced the fears of Swansea fans by declaring himself “fine” after he was helped from the field at the end of Ghana’s last AFCON qualifying match yesterday evening.

The footage of him leaving the pitch clearly suggested the injury was worse than our leading scorer believes as he declared after the game “It’s a knock

“The doctors have seen. I can put my leg on the floor. There won’t be any issue.”

Ayew will now make his way back to South Wales to join up with the squad preparations for Friday night as we head into the last nine games of the season still with a good chance of automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Ayew had played just about the full game for Ghana as they won 3-1 to finish their qualifying campaign with qualification already guaranteed following their midweek draw with South Africa.

Meanwhile midfielder Korey Smith says the squad is ready to go again in those last nine games and promises that they will give it all in their push for promotion as he explained to the official Swans website

โ€œWe’re still in a good position. If someone at the beginning of the season said that we’d be third going into the last nine games, we’d probably have taken that. We’ve just got to look forward; we’ve got to be positive and see where it takes us,” he said.

โ€œWe’re still in a good position in the league; we’ve got it all to play for, there are still nine games to go, we’ve just got to look forward.

โ€œWeโ€™re all looking forward to tackling the next nine games โ€“ theyโ€™re all going to be massive, and weโ€™ll give everything we have to reach our goal.โ€
