Andre Ayew now has 18 goals to his credit this season after coming off the bench yesterday to effectively create one and score one and help the Swans to the point they needed to secure an end of season play off berth.
A superb piece of skill set Jay Fulton clear for the first goal which was scored by Jamal Lowe whilst Ayew scored the second himself after some brilliant work from wing back Jake Bidwell.
A late Reading equaliser denied the Swans the win that would have taken them back to 3rd place in the table but ultimately it made no difference to the outcome of the match which was that Reading’s season finished early and the Swans were one of four teams confirmed as being in the play offs.
Ayew now wants the Swans to use the two weeks left of the regular season wisely to prepare for the play offs but obviously as well to secure the points that will seal higher league positions and possibly home advantage in the second leg of the semi final.
The Swans missed out in the play-offs last season when we were beaten by Brentford over two legs and the Bees are also in the mix again and could provide a semi final opposition for the Swans for the second successive season.ย ย Bournemouth and Barnsley make up the quartet who will compete to join Norwich and Watford in the Premier League next season.
โI am very happy we are in the play-offs,โ said Ayew. โThat was the objective at the start of the season, and we need to keep going and get ready for the play-offs.
โThere is a chance to build momentum and finish higher in the table. We will keep going.
โItโs great to be in the play-offs a few weeks before because we can really get ready for whatโs coming. We need to use that to our advantage.โ
