Play off fever is starting to build in Swansea and the players are starting to look forward to the games maybe as much as the fans as the Swans and Barnsley prepare to go head to head for the right to play in the final on May 29th.
Neither side may have been expected to reach this stage of the season but both seem determined to make the most of it as they prepare for the first leg at Oakwell next Monday evening.
With fans being confirmed as allowed back into the ground for both legs it will add to both the tension and the atmosphere of the games certainly compared to last season when both games against Brentford were played behind closed doors.
With several days though to go before the games, the Swans viewpoint is clear as was explained yesterday by both Connor Roberts on the Elis James football podcast and Korey Smith via the club’s official website
Roberts saidย “We go there and give everything we can and hopefully it’s good enough and hopefully we get a good result.
“It’s a big opportunity for us. The two games this season were very different to what Monday night is going to be.
“It wasn’t pretty as every fan under the sun will admit but hopefully we can play some nice stuff and create some opportunities for ourselves.
“A positive result is the aim.”
Korey Smith has won three promotions in his career but this will be his first attempt at the play offs and he saidย โIโm really looking forward to it. The boys experienced it last season, and that will hold us in good stead.
โWeโve got a more experienced team as a result this season, so hopefully that helps us.
โItโs been a long season, but a positive one. We are going into the play-offs full of positivity, and when you get there itโs all about winning.”
