The Swans and Barnsley have met twice this season and on both occasions the Swans ran out 2-0 winners with the two games taking place within a short space of each other either side of Christmas.
It was 6 days before Christmas when the Swans picked up three points on a Liberty Stadium pitch that generated more discussion than the football itself.ย Jamal Lowe scored the opener within ninety seconds of the start before a second half own goal secured the points for the Swans despite a strong Barnsley performance.
Just four weeks later the Swans secured the same scoreline win at Barnsley but again it was not an easy night.ย Goals from Ben Cabango and Jamal Lowe secured the win but Barnsley showed at that time that they had more than enough to worry the Swans.
A glance at the table after that night in January showed the Swans in 2nd place, 12 points ahead of Barnsley who were 10th – a gap that closed to two points come the end of the season.
As Matt Grimes says neither of these games will mean anything when kick off comes around this evening but what it does tell us is that the Swans do have the beating of Barnsley inside us so let’s hope that comes to the fore this evening.
