Made in Chelsea but developing in Swansea

Marc Guehi has two man of the match awards on his sideboard following the two legs of the play-off semi final against Barnsley although he seems slightly embarrassed as he talks about being singled out by the Sky commentators as the star showing on the night.

The on loan Chelsea defender is withoutย  a doubt a class act.ย  He has been picking up plaudits all season and there is little doubt that he has a bright and long future in the game at both club and international level.ย  ย It was a shaky start to his Swans career at the start of last season but since that moment Marc has not looked back and has just got stronger and stronger and is one of the main reasons why we have been so successful this season.

Barnsley found him an almost impossible nut to crack over all our meetings this season and they have been not alone as Guehi eyes up one more top class performance which will see him return the Swans to the Premier League next season.

There is little doubt though that whatever happens on Saturday that Guehi himself will be a Premier League player next season with interest coming from many clubs although there is now every chance that he will take his place in the Chelsea defence rather than move away such has been the strength of his performances.

As he talks though you can see that this is a man who is not getting carried away with the hype but he is taking it in his stride as he does most of the time when he is defending.

โ€œI donโ€™t know how I got man-of-the-match, but it was a real team effort,โ€ said the centre-back.

โ€œEveryone ran so hard from the front to back. Everyone on the sideline was screaming, and the gaffer was heading every single ball!

โ€œEveryone from the staff to the players have shown a massive resilience. Itโ€™s a fantastic moment for everyone, and thatโ€™s what has got us to the final.

โ€œIt is a fantastic achievement to get to the final. The hard work has paid off so far, but thereโ€™s a lot more to come.โ€
