The Swansea City Ladies team have started what could be a very special few days for the football club with a comprehensive victory over Cardiff City to lift the WPWL Cup for the second time.

The Swans had to recover from going a goal down relatively early in proceedings to secure the cup with a 4-1 victory set up by goals from Tija Richardson, Katy Hosford and two more from Stacey John-Davis to seal the win.

The Bluebirds took the lead when Phoebie Poole scored after a good save from the Swans keeper but it was a highlight for Cardiff as the Swans quickly took over and were dominant throughout.

Richardson’s equaliser came when Cardiff failed to deal with a corner and she stabbed home from close range from a second ball into the box to send the sides in level at half time.

Katy Hosford’s free kick caught out the Bluebirds keeper in the 52nd minute and she scored from long range before John-Davis took over with her two goals to seal the win.

The first came when she intercepted a back pass to finish with some composure in the 56th minute whilst the fourth came with ten minutes left when she curled a superb shot into the back of the net to secure silverware for the Swans.
