Swansea City Ladies could tonight take the first step towards a league and cup double when they face Cardiff City in the WPWL Cup Final.

It starts a huge five days for the Ladies side who need just a point on Sunday to retain their league title as well which could be part of a massive celebration for the club as a whole as the first team face Brentford at Wembley on Saturday.

But first the focus goes onto the Ladies side who will kick off at 7.30pm tonight in the game which takes place behind closed doors in Newport.

The two sides met in the league on Sunday with the Swans comprehensive 6-0 winners over their Bluebird rivals to give them a massive step towards the title.    For their part though Cardiff City beat Cardiff Met at the semi final stage of the competition so certainly should not be underestimated in the game despite Sunday’s result in our favour.

Cardiff coach Iain Derbyshire said We all play football to win trophies, so the fact we’re in with a chance of winning a cup, at the end of this season, of all seasons, we’re very proud

“We’ll go into the game as the underdogs, we know that. But, there is every chance in a one-off cup game.

“The girls are excited and motivated, and they should be. We want to go one step further and create history.”

Good luck Swans!
