Football Insider is today reporting that the Swans have beaten not just Newcastle and Celtic but Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur as well in the race to sign young Wigan striker Kyle Joseph for a fee suggested to be close to be ยฃ1m.

Joseph was made one of the Swans key targets of the summer early doors after the season ended and as long back as a week ago it was reported that we were at the front of the queue to gain his signature and we have to hope that this particular news is true as this is ideally the kind of signing we need – young, hungry and with a good eye for goal.

Football Insider also reports that Newcastle and Celtic had offered long term contracts to the striker and that Rangers and Tottenham were also interested in signing the teenager who scored five times in fourteen games last season which included a hat-trick at Burton in December.

The report goes onto say that the Swans will now finalise the deal to bring Joseph to the Liberty Stadium.
