The Liverpool Echo reports that the Swans, Cardiff City and Barnsley are all set to be disappointed as they are set to hold onto Wales defender Neco Williams for next season.
The Swans were one of three Championship sides interested in a loan deal for Williams who is currently with the Wales squad at the European Championships.
The Echo’s Paul Gorst was answering questions via the paper and when asked about the future of Williams he said “I think the plan for Williams is for him to stay put. He’s only 20 and a fully fledged international.
“It cost Liverpool around ยฃ11m for an Andy Robinson back-up last summer in Konstantinos Tsimikas, so loaning Williams would need them to get one for the right side too.
“The hope is that a lack of injured centre-backs might allow more rotation in full-back areas next season.”
Gorst also revealed that Liverpool have a buy back clause for former Swans on loan striker Rhian Brewster but believes that even if he hit the necessary levels to activate the clause they have seen the last of him in a Liverpool shirt.
