The one thing we know about the Swans under Steve Cooper is that there are many links between his sides and his England Under-17 World Cup winning team.
In the two years Cooper has been at the Liberty we have seen loan details for Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi (Chelsea), Rhian Brewster (Liverpool) and Morgan Gibbs-White (Wolves) whilst Joel Latibeaudiere joined on a permanent deal last summer from Manchester City.
There is much talk of golden generations but the team under Cooper was certainly one of those when you factor in that Phil Foden and Jadon Sancho were in the squad and only yesterday it emerged that Aston Villa were looking at a potential ยฃ30m deal for Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal.ย ย Add into the mix Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea) and you have a talented team which it is not surprise succeeded on the international stage.
So it should come as no real surprise to learn that the Swans are being linked with a move for two more of that squad as potential loan deals ahead of the new season.
Defender Timothy “TJ” Eyoma made 39 appearances on loan for Lincoln last season and is tipped to have a huge future ahead of him in the game.ย The 21 year old defender was a key part to the Imps run to the play off final and is expected to make a further loan move this season with the Swans keen on making that one to the Liberty as a potential ideal suitor for the position occupied so well by Guehi last season.
Eyoma signed a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium last summer and is described by them as โcalm on the ball and intelligent at playing out from the back.โ
Eyoma is a right back who can play centre back and returned to Lincoln last season for a second loan spell after the first was cut short without an appearance due to the pandemic.ย ย Of course this in itself creates a new link for the Swans should Cooper move on given that the Swans are suggested to be lining up an approach for Imps boss Michael Appleton of whom Eyoma said when signing for Lincoln โMichael likes to develop young players, and this is a reason why I wanted to return. I feel like Iโll play games which will develop me further as a player, and hopefully my ability can contribute towards the team.”
The other player being linked with the Swans is Chelsea midfielder George McEachran, younger brother of former loan player Josh.ย ย The Swans are watching the position of McEachran closely after he returned early from a loan spell with MVV Maastricht last season for ‘compelling private reasons’ after just 2 months in the Netherlands.
McEachran has been part of the Chelsea Academy since the age of eight, winning the FA Youth Cup in 2017 and 2018.
The previously mentioned Marc Guehi returned to Chelsea at the end of last season with a glowing reference on the way that the Swans develop players and this has alerted both sides to the possibility of more moves with McEachran being near the top of the list.
He is described by Chelsea on their official site as “A left-footed attacking player, he played mostly in midfield or in the number 10 position while progressing through the age groups prior to a couple of years featuring on the left wing, right wing as well as a loose striker.”
It is not believed that either Tottenham or Chelsea would be prepared to let the players move on a permanent deal so loan agreements are most likely which could mean no movement for several weeks.
