Swans to sign two more this week?

All signs seem to point to the Swans doing business with Burnley and Bristol City players this week and adding two more new names to their squad ahead of the new season with the rumoured arrival of both Liam Walsh and Jimmy Dunne.

Both are names who have been linked with us this summer and it now seems that the Swans are moving in on completing deals for both players which will take the total number of first team arrivals at the Liberty this summer already to four – not bad for the first week of July when you consider our previous dallying through the summers.

Dunne was linked two weeks back as an out of contract defender with Burnley and, as a central defender, would be seen as a potential replacement for Marc Guehi who returned to Chelsea at the end of last season.

Although out of contract he is under the age of 24 so Burnley would be entitled to a development fee but there are several reasons why this kind of signing fits a Swansea profile.

Walsh was first linked back in May after it was confirmed that he would be leaving Ashton Gate in the summer after a move from Everton never really worked out for him.

Upon signing at Bristol City, then manager Lee Johnson said โ€œI think Liam gives us something slightly different to what we have already and adds to the qualities we already have in midfield. He loves getting on the ball and is a very good passer with both his left and right foot. Heโ€™s a brilliant player, who can come in and compete immediately. Hopefully he can improve and he improves us.โ€

That bit never happened and it seems this week as if the Swans are closing in on getting one of their early targets and adding what appears to be a creative midfielder to our squad.

Both these signings appear to be shrewd moves and adding additional depth to a squad that looked lacking at times last season.
