Reports surfaced yesterday that Leeds United are also keen on Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman and will give the Swans some serious competition for their hopes of landing the goalkeeper for a third successive season.
The Swans are believed to be keen to bring Woodman back to the Liberty after two successful loan seasons at the club and there is little doubt that the keeper would like to come back to South Wales if his subtle – and sometimes not so subtle – social media posts are to be believed.
But Leeds United are now in the hunt for a new goalkeeper after Kiko Casilla secured a season-long loan move to Elche CF in La Liga which gives the suggestion that his Leeds career could be over.
The Yorkshire Evening Post has listed Woodman as one of three potential goalkeeping targets for Marcelo Bielsa and director of football Victor Orta’s search for a replacement was narrowed to three candidates, all of whom have senior league experience, namely Dani Cรกrdenas, Kristoffer Klaesson and Woodman.
The names of Cรกrdenas and Klaesson are likely to be ahead of Woodman on that list which will give the Swans hope of a deal but Premier League interest is not likely to end at Leeds and we may yet find ourselves in a very tough battle to get our man.
