Martin turns down Swans to stay at MK Dons

The Swansea City managerial hunt took another turn for the worse this morning with multiple press outlets reporting that Russell Martin has turned down the chance to join the Swans and electing instead to stay at MK Dons.

Reports – all emanating from PA – suggest that Martin and his assistant have preferred to stay and continue the job that they are doing at Stadium MK where they are heralded as one of the most exciting partnerships currently in the EFL.

The news leaves the Swans still at the drawing board although Jody Morris remains very much in the frame for the job having held some level of discussions with the Swans already this week.

The Swans are supposedly still keen to lure Martin away from his current role but he will need certain assurances to allow that to happen – assurances that I am not sure the club can give him at this point in time.

Martin was immediately moved out in the betting to 5/2 as joint favourite alongside Morris.
