Swans clear on new transfer targets

Russell Martin was enjoying the backdrop of his first Swansea City league win when he talked about his plans for the last 10 days of the transfer window last night stating that he was very clear on what he wanted to achieve.

A first half goal from Joel Piroe was enough to give the Swans their first league win of the season at the fourth attempt and give Martin those valuable three points, something achieved on the back of losing both Ben Cabango and Flynn Downes before the game.

Now attention for Martin turns to working through the transfer targets he has set and bringing in the players he believes will turn this into a successful season for the Swans.

“We have clear targets who we are in discussions with,” Martin told BBC Sport.

“We have a couple of guys who really want to come and play here.

“We’re working hard at it. This window has been very slow in general, but I think it will come to life at some point.

“We’re not going to get people for the sake of it, just to try and bring someone in.

“It’s about making sure the finances are right for us and the club they’re coming from. I’m sure by the end of the transfer window that will come to life.

“I expect it will be a mixture of loan and permanents.”

  1. Our goalie played well at bristol , his long passing was good and went to our players feet , he made a few good saves and after a few more games at this level he’ll get even better so dont panic, mr mannering, we need a left sided attacking player who’s a good crosser of the ball and a utility midfield attacker and we should be ok and maybe that’s where dhanda or Cullen could fit in and then who knows where that’ll takes . Football is a game of opinions and r m are the ones that matter, and from what ive seen so far he’ll do for me.
