Liverpool defender Rhys Williams is set to join the Swans on loan as, at last, we have news of arrivals at Swansea City as opposed to departures.

The first Swans signing of this transfer deadline day was confirmed in the press this morning with Mail Online reporting “Williams, along with fellow academy defender Nat Phillips, became an unlikely hero last season after being thrust into the limelight as Liverpool’s defensive crisis took hold”

The defender will join on loan for the remainder of the season.

After joining Liverpool at Under 10 level, Williams represented the Reds throughout the age groups before signing his first professional contract in February 2019.

The youngster has been farmed out on loan before, featuring for Kidderminster Harriers in the National League North in 2019 and making 26 appearances.
