Home comforts is the aim for the Swans as club football returns

It was a hugely successful international break as Wales picked up the four points that they needed to secure home advantage in a World cup play off match and now our attention turns back to club football for the foreseeable as the Swans prepare for the weekend visit of Blackpool and the chance to continue some recent strong form, particularly at home.

In the last mini round of matches it was four wins from six for Russell Martin’s side, a record only beaten by the division’s current top two and with football returning largely to just one game a week between now and Christmas we can hope for more of the same in the next six weeks.

The Swans will go into the weekend game on the back of four straight home league wins – Huddersfield, Cardiff, West Brom and Peterborough and only Stoke and West Brom have left the Liberty this season having penetrated a Swansea defence which is exceptionally mean with home advantage.

It is a record that is starting to be one to be proud of and it is a record that it is clear we are aiming to protect starting on Saturday afternoon.ย  It is also a record that is in stark contrast to our away form which is certainly something that needs to improve if we are to continue our rise up the table but for now focus is on the Swansea.com stadium and wins for the home support.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been saying for a while now that we want to improve our away form, and that is definitely the case, but you still need to have strong home form,โ€ midfielder Korey Smith told the official Swans website.

โ€œI think you look at the run we have been on at the stadium and you can see we have played with confidence and we have got the rewards for good performances.

โ€œThe supporters are right behind us, they know what we are trying to do, they can see where we are trying to get to and they have responded brilliantly to that.

โ€œWe are trying to play a style of football that excites them and, if you like, makes them think of the tradition this club has for playing attractive football.

โ€œDonโ€™t get me wrong, thereโ€™s a long way to go, we are not the finished article by a long way, but we are going in the right direction.

โ€œThe challenge for us is to keep that going, to keep improving and keep delivering in front of our fans.โ€
