“Outrageous” – Russell Martin gives his view on the Swans ‘lost’ points at Middlesbrough

Russell Martin was clear in his view that the Swans did more than enough to earn themselves a point this afternoon at the Riverside and he described it as ‘outrageous’ as he looked back on the missed chances from his team.

Swansea surrendered a host of chances to bring themselves back into the game with three times the attempts at goal of the home side and yet again an afternoon where we had more than two thirds of the ball.

That, of course, all means nothing at the end of the game with the only statistic to matter being the one goal that came midway through the first half when the home side sprung our offside trap and Jones ran clear to score.

But Martin was down on the performance afterwards but only because he did not think that we got our rewards for an away performance where he says we did more than enough to earn at least a point.

โ€œI donโ€™t think there was any way we deserved to lose the game today,โ€ said the Swans boss.

โ€œFirst half we had to fight really hard against a team who were really aggressive and made it hard for us.

โ€œThey had one moment, and they scored from it. They had two shots on target at home.

โ€œWe go through with Pato, itโ€™s potentially a penalty but I havenโ€™t seen it back.

โ€œRyan Manning has a shot where the keeper makes a good save, Joel Piroe has one blocked and it just felt like the goal might be coming at some point.

โ€œWe were so dominant second half, we created so many chances and you cannot create that much away from home and not take at least a point away. Itโ€™s outrageous.”
