Speculation increased last night that MK Dons keeper Andy Fisher would complete a move to Swansea this week with one suggestion being that the deal could be completed as early as Wednesday this week.
The Swans – and Russell Martin in particular – have been long term fans of the keeper with the Swans boss accepting that he needs a new man in between the sticks with Steven Benda clearly not his answer and Ben Hamer being, at best, inconsistent in recent weeks.
He has been reported for several weeks to be looking at Fisher and it was reported last month that the keeper would be the first signing of the window for us although there was more than one suggestion yesterday that the two clubs were still some way apart on the desired transfer fee.
However, an unconfirmed Twitter suggestion last night said that it was now a done deal and it should go through this week with all parties now in agreement.
Fisher played for the Dons yesterday in a 0-0 draw with Gillingham and if he joined the Swans he would have to be a spectator for next week’s FA Cup tie with Southampton having already appeared for the Dons in this season’s competition.
Nothing official has been stated by any club yet but it does appear that Martin is moving closer to one of his key transfer targets of the January window and if the deal is concluded this week it is good to see us putting the early days of this opportunity to good use.
I have to say your transfer speculation is tosh at best. If you are going to consistently talk about another club’s player – at least be sure to state some CONCRETE sources. Poor form #PlanetSwans
