The Swans look to have missed out on one of their transfer targets with Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun set to join Middlesbrough in the next few days.
Russell Martin and his team had identified Balogun as a potential signing in the January window with the Daily Express reporting that Chris Wilder had beaten off other teams to secure his signature.
The paper reports “Talks have progressed well since Middlesbrough outlined their interest in borrowing Balogun, with promises of regular game time.
“A decisive factor in Wilder’s pitch was that he tried to sign the Arsenal academy graduate during his time at Sheffield United.
“The Blades are understood to have seen two bids rebuffed by the Gunners in September 2020 before Balogun signed a long-term contract with Arsenal in April amid interest from a number of German clubs including RB Leipzig.”
Boro are reported to be paying Balogun’s wages in full during the loan stay.
The Swans are known to be on the look out for a new striker especially after Morgan Whittaker joined Lincoln for the remainder of the season at the start of the week.
