Fisher deal moves closer but Blackburn are watching on?

Talksport journalists are reporting that the deal to bring Andy Fisher to Swansea is nearing completion but also report that Blackburn Rovers are watching the developments regards the goalkeeper.

Fisher started his career at Blackburn before completing a move to Milton Keynes in October 2020 following a six month loan spell the season before.ย  ย He has been identified as one of the key targets for the Swans in this window and there have been multiple reports saying a deal is near to completion amongst a host of rumours that transfer fees or even wages are yet to be agreed.

Fisher joined Blackburn at the age of 14 and remained there until the permanent move to the Dons after progressing through the Academy ranks at Blackburn Rovers, signing his first professional deal at Ewood Park in January 2016. He made senior debut for Rovers in August 2017, keeping a clean sheet in their EFL Trophy win over Stoke City.

The goalkeeper played twice more that campaign as well as spending time on loan at National League North side FC United of Manchester and Northampton Town, totalling 19 more senior appearances.

The deal that took Fisher to MK was reported at the time as a free transfer so I guess there is a chance that the “watching developments” could be related to a sell on clause but the more likely possibility is that they may have an interest in taking him back to the North West.

Russell Martin talked yesterday about having to re-think his transfer plans because of the recall of Ethan Laird but he has long since identified the need for a goalkeeper so progression on this deal should not be held up any more than it already has been.
