Aberdeen told to look at Fulton as they hunt new midfielder

Aberdeen have been told to consider Swans midfielder Jay Fulton as a potential replacement for Lewis Ferguson and Ryan Hedges – both who are wanted by clubs in England in this window.

The recommendation comes from former Dons boss Alex Smith who worked with Fulton when the player was in the academy at Falkirk.

Fulton’s time at Swansea looks to be coming to an end with him out of favour at the club and the manager clearly not rating a player who has not made an appearance in the league for us since September.

Aberdeen are expected to be on the hunt for midfielders with interest in Ferguson and Hedges high and at least one expected to leave Pittodrie in this window leaving gaps that need to be filled.

The Dons have been linked with his former Falkirk team-mate Connor McGrandles and Smith, now based in Australia said that both would good additions but suggested Aberdeen may look to Wales to fill the hole that any sales may create.

โ€œJay Fulton is another player Iโ€™d recommend the club look at,” Smith told the Press and Journal.

โ€œHe has played more than 150 games for Swansea, but has found himself out of the team since a new manager came in.

โ€œHeโ€™s another very good player and someone who can link up the play and run games. He would be an excellent addition to the club, too.โ€

It was expected that former boss Steve Cooper would come in for Fulton in this window but interest from Nottingham has not been forthcoming and a move back to play in Scotland it is believed would appeal to Fulton certainly from a playing perspective if nothing else.
