“Swansea is a big club” – Wolf speaks out on his arrival

Hannes Wolf is not a name many would have associated with Swansea City at the very start of this loan window but as he arrived at the club yesterday he said it was the playing style of the team that persuaded him this was the place he wanted to get back to playing football.

The Swans pulled off the loan capture of the ยฃ8m+ rated midfielder yesterday and he immediately trained with the squad yesterday morning putting him into contention of being involved at some level for the visit of Preston to the Swansea.com stadium tomorrow afternoon.

His arrival from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach comes after his game time has been limited this campaign after he made 41 appearances for them whilst on loan last season.ย  That came after the departure of then coach Marco Rose โ€“ who Wolf previously worked with at RB Salzburg – to Borussia Dortmund.

In a good interview with the Swans official website, Wolf talked about how he is keen to get down to action and how a Zoom call with Russell Martin convinced him that this was the right place for him to end up at this stage in his career.

โ€œThe first thing for me was that I had a really good Zoom call with the coach, he told me how they want to play football and he showed me some videos of how the team has been playing,โ€ he said.

โ€œWhen I saw it, I just loved it from the first moment, it is the same way I see football.

โ€œI knew the club, Swansea is a big club and so everything was top. I told my agent and we decided to come here.

โ€œI like the ball at my feet, I like to dribble with the ball and take on defenders, looking to play the right ball in the right moment.

โ€œI hope I can show from the first day what I can do, I have not played so many games these past months but I will be giving everything for Swansea.

โ€œI trained with the team, and it was really nice and the training ground and everything here is top.

โ€œThe quality of training was great and I felt good.

โ€œI now need to play my football again, and play with speed and confidence. As a team, there is so much quality here that we want to move up the league. I am excited for the 23 games we have left.โ€
