Ben Cabango is a man who wants to help his country reach the World Cup finals later this year.   The Swans defender is back in the Swans side and wants to turn a run of games into a run of form that will mean Robert Page simply cannot ignore him for the playoffs for Qatar that take place in March.

Austria, Ukraine and Scotland stand between Wales and a first appearance at the final stages of the competition since 1958 and Cabango wants to be part of a squad that creates history for Robert Page and a nation at the end of March.

Cabango put in another solid performance yesterday at the heart of a Swansea defence that finally managed a clean sheet again and manager Russell Martin says that more performances of the same and it will  be impossible for Wales to ignore the claims of Ben.

“Where he’s from is very important to him and if he carries on doing what he’s doing… as I said, I don’t pick the Wales squad, but if he carries on doing what he’s doing he’s going to be really difficult to leave out,” he told BBC Radio Wales.

“He really wants to be involved and he wants to be playing for his country. It’s as simple as that.

“I think he’s been fantastic, he’s the only Welsh speaking player we have.

“The way he’s defended his goal in the last two games, he’s been fantastic.”
