West London Sport is reporting that QPR could focus on a move for Jamie Paterson as it appears unlikely that their desire to sign Tom Lawrence from Derby will come to anything.
The paper reports that talks with Derby are not progressing and that the R’s have started to look at other potential acquisitions ahead of Monday’s deadline and Jamie Paterson is one that they are keen to secure.
The future of Paterson has been the subject of much speculation in the past ten days after he missed the Huddersfield game from not being in the “right frame of mind” whilst he has since been sent to train with the Under-23s as a result of this.
Russell Martin appears to be clear in his view that he would like Paterson back within his squad and stated ahead of Tuesday’s game at QPR that he hoped to welcome him back but as yet that does not seem to be advanced.
Martin has also been clear that he feels Paterson has not been that well advised during the discussions around his contract clearly laying the blame at the player’s representatives, the same representatives that are probably now trying to salvage his reputation either at Swansea or a potential new club.
Rangers boss Mark Warburton saidย โWe are targeting players. We know what we want and who we want to bring in.
โWho we want and getting it done are two entirely different things. I hope very much in the next two or three days that we see some movement.โ
There has also been suggestions that QPR may be prepared to let Wales international George Thomas go if they can secure a new midfielder and there has been suggestions in a couple of places that he could even be part of a potential deal for Paterson although from our point of view I suspect we would prefer to source our own replacements with any money from a Paterson sale.
