Rangers and QPR join Swans in loan bid to Manchester City for McAtee

Finally there appears to be a loan bid on the table for James McAtee with the Telegraph reporting that the Swans are one of three clubs to make an official loan approach for the Manchester City midfielder James McAtee.

McAtee, with 14 goals to his name in Premier League 2 this season, has become one of the most talked about young talents of this window with a level of uncertainty as to whether the Premier League champions would let him go out on loan or not.

It has been widely speculated that they could elect to keep him at the Ethiad believing that his experience around the likes of De Bruyne and Silva could benefit him more than a regular spot in a first team in a different decision.

With just four days left in the transfer window though it now appears that the Swans are one of at least three sides to test the resolve of Man City and make an official approach to take him on loan for the rest of the season.

James Ducker from the Telegraph tweeted:

The paper also adds “Leicester, Brighton, Southampton and Aston Villa have all given varying consideration to a permanent move for McAtee but City are unwilling to sell a player they have high hopes for.

“McAtee made his senior debut for City in the 6-1 Carabao Cup win over Wycombe in September and his first Premier League appearance as a late substitute in a 3-0 victory over Everton two months later. His last appearance came in the 4-1 FA Cup win against Swindon earlier this month.”

It is clear that competition for McAtee is going to be hard and if the Swans were to pull off this deal it would be a huge boost for Russell Martin and a great addition to his squad.ย  ย We wait and hope!
