Dhanda asked to take a pay cut to leave on loan.

Yan Dhanda will remain at Swansea beyond the transfer deadline amongst reports from Sky Sports journalists that he was asked to take a pay cut to go on loan which simply highlights the financial plight of the club in this transfer window.

Dhanda was lined up – along with Jay Fulton – as two key departures within the January window but we will get to the end of it with both players still Swans players with suggestions on both being that other clubs were not prepared to meet the wage demands that matched their existing contract.

Dhanda is out of contract in the summer and it appeared last week he may be off to DC United but that never progressed as Dhanda wanted to stay in this country.ย  There was late interest – again reported by Sky Sports – from Ross County but the Swans did not like the deals offered.

Sky Sports Lyall Thomas then referenced the fact that Dhanda was asked to take a pay cut to go on loan amongst it all but clearly that was not something that would appeal to a player with the protection of a contract behind them.

It feels a sorry state of affairs that this is where we stand now as a club.ย  ย The early optimism of links with the likes of O’Riley and Darling was replaced by the reality that we did not have funding to get anywhere near these players.

The suggestion even this morning was that we could have a striker and left wing back by the end of the day but that looks like being the left wing back at best now that Liam Walsh is heading to Hull.

  1. So true whats been said.
Sorry state of affairs that despite banging on about another
striker we DESPERATELY needed and a left winger we have to
go on bended knee to get a Shrewsbury player.
2 seasons of looking up forget that we are in a relegation fight

  2. Dhanda is a much better player than you think .He will go somehere else where they will utilize his talent and soon he will be noticed in the EPL and he will get into one of those clubs . In facf , if at least 3 South east asian players don’t ever get on the English national team atound the next world cup , England would be afain denied the world cup . God don’t like unfairness . Your teams are shitty without them . They are nit only good in cricket . That is all in your mind . Viva Yan Dhanda , Easah Suliman and others !
