Swans finalise signing of Shrewsbury Town defender Nathaneal Ogbeta

It looks like the Swans have at least completed one deal on this deadline day with multiple reports now saying that we have secured the signing of Shrewsbury Town defender Nathaneal Ogbeta on a two and a half year deal.

Ogbeta emerged late in this deadline day as a target for the Swans believed to be available for a fee of around ยฃ300,000.ย  ย However, it seemed to be more complicated than that with local journalists reporting that any move for him would be dependent on someone leaving the club which happened when it was revealed that Liam Walsh was likely to move to Hull on loan for the rest of the season.

The signing of Ogbeta ended what was a particularly underwhelming window for the Swans with our financial predicament laid bare in amongst minimal dealing and the clear message – even up to the last minute – being one of we need to see departures before we can have arrivals.ย  ย Unfortunately for us this time around we did not have players who were either attracting interest or at least attracting interest at a price that was suitable to us.

The signings we made appear to be good ones but there is probably little doubt that the manager will feel a little let down and his comment still rings loud when he said “We aren’t asking for the world.”ย  ย But we didn’t even get close to it!

Anyway, welcome to Swansea Nathaneal, hope your stay is a long and prosperous one.

  1. True points mentioned both by Phil and Stuart.
Just confirming what we didnt want to hear or believe but
now it couldnt be any clearer.
Sure people will say its a transitional period but they dont happen
and if results dont improve (despite lack of signings) the manager
    will be in firing line
