Cryus Christie, signed on loan from Fulham last month, scored his first goal for the Swans yesterday, added an assist and dedicated the win to his Nan who recently passed away.
Christie was signed by the Swans as a direct replacement for Ethan Laird who was unexpectedly recalled by Manchester United but right now you won’t find too many Swans fans who will tell you anything other than we have had the best end of that particular situation.
Christie is out of contract in the summer and with his performances in the last month you would expect that plans are already well underway as to how we may keep him at Swansea for much longer with his performance yesterday being the latest in a strong run of games since he made the trip down the M4 from Craven Cottage.

“He’s been brilliant. He’s had the loss of his nan to deal with,” Martin told Wales Online after the game.
“He’s been emotionally and physically tired. He had to drive to Coventry last week to see her before she passed away.
“It takes its toll. But he’s been brilliant around the place with how professional he is.”
Christie’s goal proved to be the decisive moment in the game as he pounced to give the Swans the lead late on and whilst Joel Piroe capped the win with a third decisive goal it was the strike from Christie that put us ahead.
As a free agent in the summer the Swans should not be blind to the form of Christie and Martin acknowledged that they will be looking to speak to him about a longer deal, something that the boss will want to do before others start to take notice of his form in SA1.
“Hopefully if he carries on we’ll be hoping to speak to him about something a bit longer,” Martin added when questioned over the potential of a longer deal for Cyrus.
Christie is someone who the fans have clearly taken to and he plays the right wing back role to great effect within the formation that Martin wants to play and that, you would hope, means a long stay in South Wales for the player.
