Swans striker Michael Obafemi is a changed man, not long ago Russell Martin was openly speaking out on the Irish international’s lack of commitment in training and his career in SA1 looked like it may be over before it really began.
Fast forward a few months and Obafemi is now surely one of the first names on the teamsheets after a huge development in his game making him one of our most dangerous attacking threats.
Not just his goals (4 in 6) but his energy and running on the pitch has endeared him greatly to the fans who have adopted the infamous Wilfried Bony song to the former Southampton striker.
His form has now prompted the Irish media to suggest a recall for Obafemi who they say is “in the best form of his life.”
Russell Martin told the media after the match: “Real pace is something weโve missed and weโve lacked for a large part of the season.
โItโs something that scares opposition defenders. Thereโs no doubt about it. Pace is the worst thing to play against. I would say that being a slow centre-half. But I donโt think anyone enjoys playing against that even when youโre quick. Heโs definitely given us another dimension.
โI just want us to finish really strongly this season.
โItโs about growing and trying to keep improving and hopefully heโll be part of that.โ
Obafemi’s two goals yesterday and assist takes him to five goals for the season.
