Cameron Congreve has agreed his first professional contract with the club after making two appearances in the match day squads in the home games against Coventry and Fulham.
The midfielder didn’t come off the bench but the fact he has been included ahead of the likes of Yan Dhanda suggests that Russell Martin has seen enough of Congreve to offer him a place amongst the substitutes.
A creative goalscoring midfielder, Congreve is 18 years old and hails from Blaenau Gwent and has impressed developing through the ranks including the under 23 squad this season.
He has signed until 2024 with the option to extend the deal a further twelve months.
โIโm delighted, Iโm absolutely buzzing to be honest, itโs what Iโve been working towards for many many years and itโs nice that Iโve finally got here, and I get to sign my first professional contract,” Congreve told the Official Site.
โI was over the moon to be involved in the matchday squads. I was absolutely buzzing when I found out about being in the squad for the Coventry game, I didnโt expect it to happen at all, it kind of just came out of the blue.”
The Swans will be hoping that Congreve adds to the long list of Welsh internationals developed at Swansea like Joe Allen and Dan James in recent times.
