Russell Martin was a history making Swansea City manager yesterday as he led a side to become the first in history to do a South Wales derby double.
Not only though did his side do that double they did it in complete style with a single handed destruction of Cardiff City on their own patch with four unanswered goals and a performance that was right up there with the very best he will have seen in his managerial career.
The Swans controlled the game from start to finish and the four goal margin was the least we deserved as Cardiff fans abandoned their team in droves as goal after goal went in with Andy Fisher largely being a spectator at the opposite end with the Bluebirds having no answer to the Swansea onslaught.
It bought to an end 110 years of no side ever completing a league double and will be an afternoon that will live long in the memory of those present at the Cardiff City Stadium whether on the winning or the losing side.
It was therefore no surprise that the Swans boss was a happy man at the final whistle as he explained to the watching media after the game.
โI have not felt as emotional as this after a game, I am incredibly proud of the players and what they have done,โ he said.
โIt was a big build-up to the game, we were written off by a lot of people and to do that and show that courage is fantastic.
โThey took the atmosphere out of the game with the way they controlled the game in that first 15 minutes, and everything we had worked on over the last two weeks was put into practice.
โThey showed everything they can be, we had young men out there who showed they can grow in a tough situation.
Fantastic game remarkable game of football completely and utterly outplayed Cardiff fantasy football and I was there among 2 500 jacks to watch this amazing game and watch history being made
All the people on here moaning about Martin’s brand of football should take a bow.
