Ross Stewart continues to be linked with a move to Swansea but it looks like Rangers and Norwich City have joined the race to sign the Sunderland man.
For whatever reason – whether it’s just paper talk or agent driven – Stewart has been strongly linked with a move to the Swansea.com Stadium for a while with Russell Martin known to be a fan of the big striker.
But with Sunderland still competing for a return to the Championship he was never going to be sold for a figure that you could see the Swans stretching to and therefore this link needs to be taken with a slight pinch of salt.
The talk is of a ยฃ4m or ยฃ5m bid being required to sign Stewart which is surely out of Swansea’s range come the summer transfer window even if Joel Piroe was to leave for the Premier League as has been suggested.
Looking at the player himself, his stats are very similar to Piroe albeit in League One with 22 goals in 42 appearances this season with a goal every 185 minutes after arriving from Scotland last January.
It’ll undoubtedly be a busy summer down at SA1 but I wouldn’t bank on Stewart being through the door although as always stranger things have happened…
